MGT Tyne is the project development company for the Tyne Renewable Energy Plant. It’s a wholly owned subsidiary of MGT Power and is the company that is taking forward the scheme’s application through the consultation and consenting process.

MGT Power was established in 2008 to develop biomass generation projects in the UK and Europe. MGT Power is a privately-owned company. Its shareholders include two UK financial institutions, Trafalgar Asset Managers and MKM Longboat. MGT Power’s management team has been involved in a large number of energy projects and has the longest track record in the UK of procurement and supply of large volumes of biomass.

To assist in the development process, MGT Tyne has retained the services of a team of experienced firms who have extensive experience of power plants, planning, engineering, environment, financing and communications.
